The most eerie place to be is not under the bed, not locked in the dark, not your hallways at night. It's right inside your head. And we are forced there every night when we get tired. My eyelids are beginning to feel like two large bricks. My head yearns to lean against the wall beside me, but I jerk it back up. I can't see what my mind will come up with if I go to sleep, it knows my worst fears, after all. I've been doing this for hours, splashing the cold water in my face, violently shaking my head like a wet dog, anything to stay awake. I've been waiting forever for this dreadful night to blow over, but it just won't. The moon taunts me, maliciously grinning at me through my curtains. It waits for me to sleep, it wants to force me into my head again.
Welcome to Unique Environment Ltd. blog, where we explore the extensive and revolutionary process of ecological restoration across New Zealand, including native tree planting and wetland restoration. We are dedicated to proving the serious effects these activities have on our ecosystems in our role as environmental stewards. Promoting Native Tree Planting to Protect New Zealand's Natural Heritage Putting in native plants is the cornerstone of ecological restoration in New Zealand. What follows explains why it is so important: Conserving Biodiversity: Native plants are essential to the unique biodiversity of New Zealand. They support native species by giving them food and a place to live, therefore improving the ecology. Trees greatly help to slow down climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Particularly well-suited to their surroundings, native plants store carbon. Tree roots control erosion and sedimentation in streams by stabilizing the soil. This is essential to protecting against natural disasters like flooding and landslides and maintaining the quality of the water. Our specialty at Unique Environment Ltd. is planting native trees in compliance with the unique needs of every location, which guarantees the sustainability and resilience of ecosystems. Restoration of Wetlands: Taking Back the Sodden Natural Sanctuary Among the habitats having the widest range of life forms are wetlands. The following justifies the need of their restoration: Restoring the Habitat: There is a wide variety of plant and animal species found in wetlands, many of which are endangered. These species are maintained and biodiversity is promoted by restoring wetlands. Improvement of Water Quality: By acting as natural filters, wetlands keep silt and other contaminants out of rivers and streams. The improved water quality benefits both people and wildlife. Flood mitigation: The ability of a healthy wetland to hold and absorb extra water during heavy rains or storms lowers the chance of flooding. They also help to keep the local water levels constant and replenish groundwater. Unique Environment Ltd. takes a deep understanding of wetland ecology and an unflinching commitment to guaranteeing long-term sustainability to its wetland restoration projects. Ecological Restoration: Nurturing Nature's Resilience The goal of ecological restoration is to repair and restore damaged ecosystems by use of a range of techniques. For this reason it is essential: Many ecosystems have been seriously deteriorated in an attempt to undo the negative consequences of human activities including pollution, deforestation, and urbanization. To increase ecological resilience and undo these consequences is the aim of ecological restoration. Benefits of restored ecosystems include useful green areas for recreation, learning, and relaxation. They also improve the general health and welfare of the community. For the Protection of Future Generations By rebuilding ecosystems today, we are making sure that next generations will inherit a healthier world. Putting money toward ecological restoration guarantees our world's long-term viability and health. With great passion, Unique Environment Ltd. works to protect and restore the natural heritage of New Zealand. Unique Environment Ltd. investigates in this blog the significant effects that riparian planting and revegetation have on the whole country of New Zealand. Passionate in ecological restoration, our goal is to disseminate information about these essential techniques and the significant effects they have on our environment. New Zealand's Heart of Regeneration Replanting native plants in damaged or disturbed areas is known as revegetation cultivation. For several reasons, this technique is essential in New Zealand: New Zealand's native plants and animals must be conserved through the crucial project of biodiversity restoration. Ecological balance is promoted and habitats for fauna are established when native species are restored through revegetation. Control of Erosion Many areas of New Zealand are now prone to erosion due to deforestation and land development. Planting native plants stabilizes soil and keeps streams from silting. Planting more trees and shrubs will help us fight climate change by improving carbon sequestration. Native forests work very well in taking in and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. At Unique Environment Ltd., our specialty is tailored revegetation solutions that guarantee each project complies with the unique needs and characteristics of the surrounding ecology. An Overview of New Zealand Riparian Planting Planting beside rivers and streams is known as riparian planting. Many benefits for the community and the environment depend on this practice: Improving the Quality of Water As natural filter systems, riparian zones collect pollutants, nutrients, and sediments before they are released into streams. This helps to maintain freshwater supplies for both human and aquatic use. Creating habitats is made easier when a wide range of species—including insects, birds, and animals—have access to necessary habitats. Furthermore encouraging biodiversity is their facilitation of animal migration. Because they can slow and absorb runoff, vegetated riparian zones can lessen the devastating impacts of flooding. Riverbanks are also reinforced to stop erosion and land loss. Through giving native species first priority and considering the local environment, Unique Environment Ltd. encourages the creation of robust and long-lasting riparian ecosystems. In a few minutes, we reached Blue Path facing the low level of the grounding avenue and we stopped momentarily on the edge of the fountain. I noticed the day was marvelous. The sun was dying like a fat red bull behind the mountainous rocks; the birds were flying in circle around themselves and the wind from the open land seemed to kiss lovely through the huge trees and palms. The voices of people and of children coming from anywhere and made everyone more touchable to walk through the park. As we began to walk through the bridge, and as impassive as my little Tabby was, the river was running below. As mysterious as its enigma emerged to us, my little Tabby held herself a little. And suddenly, without any reason at all, she asked me, “Do you think I came from a river, Mom?” Imperiously, I tried to distract her by showing her a single fish at that moment he was swimming towards the deep water; but after a few moments, she asked me the same question again. “Do you think I came from a river, Mommy?” Somehow, I hated the monotonous method of explanation, the 'no-mistake' world that does not product anything else than a gap between an adult and a child. It was mattered to me and it was impossible to hold her any longer. I turned and looked at her. And slowly I began to explain her that she did in fact had come from a river. A small one, I said. “That was located between Spring and Autumn.” “Really, Mom?” she said. “How come? Can you explain it to me?” “Well,” I began to say. “Look at this river—” She turned and looked down at the river. “I'm looking at the river, Mom. Now what?” “What do you see?” She moved further and glanced down at the river. “Water...” “And?” “Lot of fishes and water, Mom.” “And?” “Weeds and lot of fishes and water, Mom.” “Now do you see this single fellow fish?” “Which one, Mom? There are so many of them?” “The strong man.” “This one, Mom?” “Yes! This one!” Then I began to explain her that many years ago there was a fish wandering up and down through a river like this one. He was alone and he did not have any kingdom and land. But he was a handsome fish and he was ready to be a king in this new land. That day he began to swim all day along until he entered into a black whole filled of sands and weeds. “As that one, Mom?” “Yes, like this one.” And he was surprised to see many fishes already gathering around or swimming toward a large tunnel guarding up by a group called Feeders. But our Handsome Fish was ready to be king and he didn't care about them. After an arduous battle he crossed the main floor of the tunnel; and then so imperative, he began to move through it. He turned his eyes back to see if the other fishes were behind. Yeah. They also were moving closer after him. He began to swim faster and faster. Until several feet ahead, there was a second gate surrounding by millions of fishes who have the same idea of his to pass the second guarded gate and reached the desirous throne. As they were beginning the difficult journal, Our Handsome Fish saw a second group called The Fish Knights who would make ever more difficult to trespass such gate. Because they were the only who had been authorized by the Fish Queen herself to kill any intruders. But the Handsome Fish was strong as well as smart that they had never seen one like him around and he was determined not to let them to eat him alive... My little girl Tabby interrupted me and asked who were really those Fish Knights and why they were guarding up the gate. Ah they were the tinny creatures who were designed to that purpose and their main job was to defense the queen against bad fishes. Then I said, “As you see, Tabby, there must be only one fish to be crowned as king.” “Oh!” she said as she stared at him quietly. Meanwhile in the two ways beneath the bridge goes out into the sea there was the entrance of the cattle. There was a glorious battle took place. The Noble Fishes and the Fish Knights began to fight. At this instant, Our Handsome Fish moved faster, followed by a Fish Knight. The Handsome Fish jumped into a sloppy wave and moved his arm desperately to reach the lighten hall. He saw an open door, just as Fish Knight was a foot away from him, Handsome Fish dashed into the lighten hall and fell himself against the soft carpet and began to laugh. And at the same time, the golden door closed behind him with a sound. And when those fishes reached the guarded gate, there would be one among them who would be able to pass through it. “Who was them Mom?” “It was Our Handsome Fish.” “How he would become a king?” I told her he would be first a Prince; then, inside the cattle after too much trouble, he would be crowned as a king. After that he would show everything else against it would close until the next season. “Was that the way I was born, Mom?” my little girl Tabby asked. I looked at her smiling. “Not only you, my sweetheart,” I said. “But each one of us.”

The world is a careful orchestration of facts and logics that lay onto each other to give varied results. Choices are invariably between few options, like video simulations, that pile onto each other to result in vastly different outcomes. The law of multiplication in its grandest application. Successful is he who can decipher these truths of the world to come up with his own. As a woman of logic, it baffles me, thus, how individuals can blatantly turn an eye away from the facts that stare them in the face. Certain advocates for equality like to harp on the premise that all humans are the same, a concept that I never understood. The very aspects that make us human differentiate us. From our genetic code which dictates our physical capacities to our appearance which segregates us on a visual level to our individual psyches that transcends measurable scales, humans are literally programmed to stand out. Which is why it is ignorant to assume that all of us are cut of the same cloth and fit into the same mould. However, an admittance of dissimilarity is not a translation to advocacy for injustice. There is a difference between seeing individuality and condemning others for it. These unwritten divides that segregate us into subgroups within a larger population are not the reason for the animosity that certain individuals feel. These malicious thoughts are viruses concealed in promising packets of healthy cells which cross the barriers within our heads to infect what lies beyond, to decay our minds. These trojan horses of malevolence implant themselves into our psyche without our knowledge, they start an unalterable process of gradual decline of our thoughts and of our perspectives. They turn dissimilar people into ‘them' who are deprived of the treatment and amenities that ‘we' should receive. Early interactions with non-neurotypical individuals normalised the concept to me that certain people have quirks or habits that may not resemble my own. The brain is akin to an ocean, it is uncharted territory that is not completely understood by individuals and hides secrets that are yet to be uncovered. It is unjust to box this super-machine with infinite capability into identical, restrictive containers. The world is filled with unique individuals and while we may have come a long way in the acceptance of individuals with varied physical appearances, we have yet to accept those who different from us neurologically. A moment that sticks with me took place when I was in ninth grade. The toll of the bell had indicated that we were free to go to the cafeteria to grab something to eat. On the food counter was a boy with autism who was working the counter to gain work experience. Unlike my usual, unsocial self I decided to strike up a conversation with him. Once I returned to my unofficially designated seat, I was bombarded with questions about my interaction with him by a friend of mine. This friend expressed her disbelief at my conversation, her primary question was 'why would I want to talk to him?'. This friend was considered social and accepting of all people, she was even working with students with autism for a project, which is why it shocked me to see her react this way, to take this fellow human as an alien creature who we could share no connection with. I came to the conclusion that dissimilarity scares us- the creatures of conformity. We very easily discard those who don't conform to our idea of normalcy. These preconceived notions make people tag non-neurotypical individuals as mentally deranged r dumb. This bubbling cauldron of emotions triggered me to work towards the acceptance of non-neurotypical individuals so that some day the need to ask the question that my friend had does not arise.
In this interesting article they wrote about childhood depression. They also talks about the difference between sadness and depression. About ways to tell if your child is depressed, symptoms of depression, and ways to treat it. The following quote gives an example between sadness and depression “ Because a child seems sad doesn't necessarily mean he or she has significant depression. If the sadness becomes persistent, or if disruptive behavior that interferes with normal social activities, interests, schoolwork, or family life develops, it may indicate that he or she has a depressive illness.” Shortly afterward in the article they talked about how to tell if your child is depressed and some effects of leaving it untreated. “The symptoms of depression in children vary. It is often undiagnosed and untreated because they are passed off as normal emotional and psychological changes that occur during growth. Early medical studies focused on "masked" depression, where a child's depressed mood was evidenced by acting out or angry behavior. While this does occur, particularly in younger children, many children display sadness or low mood similar to adults who are depressed. The primary symptoms of depression revolve around sadness, a feeling of hopelessness, and mood changes.” Some symptoms this article included were “Irritability or anger, Continuous feelings of sadness and hopelessness, Social withdrawal ,Changes in sleep such as sleeplessness or excessive sleep ,Vocal outbursts, crying, Difficulty concentrating, Fatigue and low energy, stomach aches, headaches that don't respond to treatment, Reduced ability to function during events and activities at home or with friends, in school, extracurricular activities, and in other hobbies or interests, Feelings of worthlessness or guilt” To properly diagnose your child be sure If the symptoms of depression have lasted for at least two weeks, you should schedule a visit with his or her doctor. Some treatment options for children with depression are (counseling) and medication. There were some things in this article i found important and i felt like sharing knowledge about. Something I found important from the article was this quote. “As in adults, depression in children can be caused by any combination of factors that relate to physical health, life events, family history.” Another important something I found “Studies have shown that depression may precede more serious mental illness later in life, diagnosis, early treatment and close monitoring are crucial.” And the last most important thing i found was “Warning signs of suicidal behavior in children include: Many depressive symptoms (changes in eating, sleeping, activities), Social isolation, including isolation from the family, Talk of suicide, hopelessness, or helplessness, Increased acting-out of undesirable behaviors such as sexual and behavioral. Increased risk-taking behaviors, Frequent accidents ,Substance abuse, Focus on morbid and negative themes, Talk about death and dying. Increased crying or reduced emotional expression. Giving away possessions is a good indicator”
