I was sitting in the cell-like room of my dormitory while everyone was celebrating the end of the induction week at my University. Since the event was happening just outside the yard of the dorm, I could hear the voices of happy and energetic students who had participated passionately in all the activities during that week. I was blaming and questioning my mind and soul for not going outside, getting involved, and enjoying student life instead of reading boring Computer Science books. I asked myself why I could not become the person who exposes myself to people, is extroverted, and enjoys the life she is experiencing. Yes, I was the person who buried myself in my world, only studying, desiring good grades, and aiming to become a professional. But seeing the outside world and my coursemates being very communicative, managing both study and extracurriculars, made me wonder if I was not using my full potential. Deep down, I knew that the solution was going outside, meeting my new coursemates, and forming friendships by exchanging ideas on how to start our academic journey. The difference between them and me was my frustration at that very moment. A stream of questions ran through my mind, and with some courage, I barely pushed myself after that incident. I began visiting small events and participating in national holidays held at different places, but I was still afraid to approach and be sociable in front of people. After the first midterms, I witnessed many students struggling to get good grades and master some subjects. Since I am good at math, I decided to mentor my peers. That is when my A+Club came to life. I started talking with my peers who were good at other subjects and invited them to share their knowledge with those struggling. I organized the days to teach each class, made announcement posts, reserved rooms after classes, and created sample question papers, managing my personal life simultaneously. Almost all students visited A+Club's mock exams, as my prepared questions closely resembled those of the professors. Most failing students in midterms succeeded in finals due to their hard work and the unconditional help from peers through A+Club's learning space. I have developed adaptability, problem-solving, and courage, realizing my full potential and correctly using it for the community around me. This realization led me to be a leader in two student clubs and an ambassador in three social organizations. Because I embody effective altruism. I am always ready to serve my community, helping each individual thrive by being a role model and a leader. Leadership and impact do not require a specific position or company; they start with beliefs and actions. When I see a societal problem, I do not just observe; I search for viable solutions, utilize my collective experience, learn new things, and put them into practice.

There are so many things that you can do . Unfortunately you ignore them . For example I can write this in English . Which is what I'm doing right now. But I tried to write it in French and creole before. Because I thought I would not be able to . But look! I'm doing it and it seems pretty good to me.\n\nwhat does that mean?\n\nThere are certain things that you can do ,but you ignore them because you limit yourself . By thinking that : you can't, you need someone else's help,it's too much for you and worst... And this, without even trying.\n\nYou are worth so much . Your capacity is bigger than what you think. Give that chance to yourself to try without someone. Stop doubting yourself and believe that you are better than the average.sometimes ,look back to remind yourself how much you can accomplish . Think about a \\"congratulation\\" someone told you ,something you said or did that made someone smile , to see how great and worthy you are.\n\nI used not to talk nor participate in class just because I knew that I just came from Haiti and I didn't speak English as well as the other students did. I never thought about the purpose that they put me in ESOL3 while they knew I just came from a different country which speaks a different language.\n\nNow I see and I'm saying , it was because they saw I could. Being here for three or four months didn't mean that I couldn't speak nor write in English. But That's what I thought and I was wrong.\n\nWe always think that it's suppose to be like everyone else.\\"If he\she can't .Neither can I\\". \\"If he didn't, how can I?\\" That's not true!\n\nWhat if we said: \\"If he did, so will I\\"Because there are people who succeeded as there are some who failed . Why don't we look for the ones who achieved it instead of those who didn't or couldn't?\n\nThis is the way we have to think to see our capacity. And don't wait, DO NOT wait for others to believe it . Believe it because you know you really can . Not because I'm saying it . YOU have to know it.And the only way for you to know that is to try .\n\nTry without fear.\n\nNo,try even if you are afraid . Because I promise you will not regret it.\n\nGood things come to those who wait . But better things come to those who go out and get what they always got!\n\nYes , what they always got . Because as I already said, You already got it. It is just a question of knowing it . And once you know it ,appreciate it, work on it, and develop it.\n\nI will keep saying that you already have all . Don't wait for anybody to tell you that.\n\nThat's simple , If you do what you always did , you will get what you always got. And if you don't value your times and talents neither will others. Stop giving away your talents ! Start charging for them!\n\n\\"The one who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world ,are the ones who do.\\" I read:\\" Life is not about finding yourself . Life is about creating yourself.\\"\n\nYour problem is not the problem . Your reaction is . Now, what will be your reaction? better still, what actions will you take? Will you take one?\n\nDon't forget , YOU DESERVE THIS! So try! Try until you do.Try until no errors . Try until it works.Try until you're satisfied.\n\nAnd Have fun!
Two weeks I spent about 17 days feeling terrible with what was assumed to be the coronavirus. Imagine living your dream by relocating to study in Japan only to get sick before the new semester begins. I certainly was Alice in Wonderland as something I never accounted for occurred. Who in their right mind expected a pandemic to sweep through the world? Who expects to catch it at that? It was the sickest I'd ever been and I would never wish it on my worst enemy. It must have been truly dreadful for someone that can be fairly vindictive when crossed to never wish this on someone. The term sick as a dog doesn't begin to describe how I felt. I would hardly leave my bed, only ever to run to the bathroom. I never really ate and if I did, I had to force myself. I had always been grateful to live in my small apartment alone. Now I was even more grateful that no one could see how terrible my appearance had fallen and how ill I felt. It would have been too much of a hassle to go to the hospital knowing that they would push me away while saying, “You don't look very sick and you aren't having too much trouble breathing.” These are the words many foreigners are being told these days as we seek help in this country. I had no intention of going to the hospital. In fact, I felt I could heal better alone than if I were around people. I had my cellphone and people could message me as they pleased, though my replies were slow as I slept for most of the day. In that aspect, I never felt alone. There was always someone messaging me, always wanting to know if I was feeling better, if my symptoms were worse, or quite frankly just to make sure I was still alive. I'd only told a select few people based off of how close I was to them and if I felt they would react within reason. I never did like, or respond well, to people making a fuss over me even when need be. My own sister wasn't told that I was sick due to her overdramatic need to make you feel horrible about things outside of your control. “It's because you don't know how to take care of yourself. I knew you shouldn't have left the country. You always make bad decisions.” I can hear her now if she were to have known. She had a way of pinning blame on people, even when there was no one to blame. She'd find a way to, it was something I truly admired about her, to make something big out of nothing. Though it was also one of the many things I hated about her all the same. It's funny, death that is. It's truly funny, and dreadful, and petrifying in the fact that the most important aspects of it are a mystery to all that have yet to succumb to it. I have never truly been scared of death, but in the face of it, I felt numb. I wasn't very worried about what death would do to me. Once I was gone, that was it, it was over. I was always concerned about how it would affect other people. I kept telling myself, “You have to get better for your family.” I'm the good child out of my three siblings. How vain it must sound to openly say that, but it is the truth. I have always followed the rules, made good grades, followed my parents' instructions, and did what I was told unlike my older brother and sister who deviated from the path my parents had tried to get them to walk. What would they do if I died? Who would take care of them when they were wrinkled and gray? How would my mother hold a funeral and somehow send my body back to America? We all know none of us had the money for that. What about our plans to go fishing together? My mom has always liked to learn new trades, fishing being her newest interest. I was the only one of my siblings that knew how to fish after my friend's father taught me on our trip to Florida. Who would she go with in the future? Surely my siblings wouldn't be interested. And my silly father. Who would buy my father that Porsche he's always wanted? We had a joke, him and I. About how I would buy him a Porsche when I graduated and made it big. I never did understand his fixation with Porsches. If I didn't get better, would I have the chance to ask him? And my best friend. My dearest Angelica, what about all of the plans we had made for our future? How we would buy houses near each other where our children could roam free and happily? I would have left the world without having experiences that could only be given in the distant future. I would have died because of something out of my control. I'd always made sure to tell people I loved them almost every day for fear of one day losing them at any unsuspecting time. Somehow, the millions of times I said it just didn't seem enough when I felt my time was fleeting. How many times should I have said it for me to feel satisfied? To be able to say, “You told everyone you loved them numerous times for years, it's okay.” I honestly don't think I'd ever feel satisfied in those regards. With my lack of satisfaction, my determination grew. I needed to get better, if not for myself, then for those I deeply cherish.
There are millions of unpredictable things in the world. But the one which I had found most unpredictable in my 18 years of life is “The Life” itself. Life is so unpredictable that you can't even tell that after next 10 seconds you will be reading this essay or not. It seems quite funny that no one in this world is ready for what next is going to happen with you? Are you ready? I don't think so, and even I'm not ready for what's going to happen next with me. But, what we can do is “Be ready to accept the reality”; we can't deny the reality and live in the dreams. We must be ready with a thought in our mind that is “I might not be ready for what is next? But I'm ready to give my 100% in any situation of my unpredictable life”. Life is very simple but complicated to explain but still I try doing that, by explaining more in fewer words. Life is a game (Suppose any game which you like the most). It begins with the day you are born and ends on the day of your death. But, in those years while you were actually living, you did anything which can make you live even after your death? Seems quite confusing?? Let me help you, do you know William Shakespeare, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Muhammad Ali and Silkworm? I guess you know all of them except the silkworm, right? We'll come on the silkworm later first let's discuss about the famous personalities we have mentioned above. These all people were normal like us the only thing that made the difference is their thinking! They thought, they believed, they took action, and did something which was unbelievable, but it was the reality and it is the reality and we all accepted it! And in fact we initially never accepted it, see how unpredictable life is. We never believed we can talk through phones, we never thought we can have light; we never thought we (Indians) will be able to get independent and we never thought a million things but they happened. And this is how the people who thought and did these things are still living even after death. They are remembered and that is what exactly I want to convey through this essay. We should do something to be getting remembered. Maybe not as big as they did but at least something to be got remembered, let's get back to the example of Silkworm. Simply I say it's born, live and then die, but in that period of time it gives the Silk and that silk is so precious that somehow it's remembered. You may not be able to be like the people mentioned above but at least you can do something even on a small scale like the silkworm to be remembered even after death. You won't take your money when you will die; it's a waste in Heaven. This thing is a universal truth and predictable that you can't take money to the heaven, you'll go there empty hands. In the unpredictable life it is easy to move on a negative path. But very tough to move on positive path because (it's not predictable but in most cases) it doesn't give quick happiness, it might be filled with struggles and it might be having huge challenges. But, negative path is struggle less because it's not quite tough to become a bad person. But still there's a way this unpredictable life can be lived with happily and that way is simply summed up in a single word i.e. Satisfaction. Even in the hardest times which came in your life because you couldn't predict it earlier you can still live with happiness if you are still satisfied and accepting the reality. Happiness is directly proportional to Satisfaction, the more you are satisfied, the more will be happy. So, while summing up this essay about unpredictable life I would like to say three things. First, stay satisfied even in the hardest situations. Second, if you face any fall back then try to accept it, learn from it and improve as soon as possible. Third and the last… Try to do something to live even after death, in positive way. And by doing all this you can handle all the situations of this unpredictable life.
For the Love of Nelly Bleset. Perhaps the saddest love story ever told. Set in rural England in 1910 our tale follows the life of the local young poacher who is forced into service at the Big House in order to help his family survive poverty. There he meets the lady of his dreams, but she only has eyes for the spiteful footman, made worse by his corrupt sponsor a local Lord. World War One takes away all the men of fighting age, our young hero included. From the trenches his life at the front, letters and wounds kindle an undying passion between him and his previously unrequited lady love. This is an action packed tale, with twists of political intrigue in a backdrop of the contrast between the poverty and aristocratic realities of the time. (Available from Amazon in paperback and ebook by Kindle). 5 Stars - Highly Recommended.
Looking Forward to the Past A gripping and fast moving tale about the struggle of the common man to exist in a world gone mad at the hands of the new authoritarian state of the European Federation. Set in the green and pleasant pastures of Wales our hero and his young son are separated from his wife and herded into a containment camp created by the Federation to contain the people of the troublesome island called Britain. This is a story of pursuit, survival, wanton violence and love in a world controlled and manipulated by the corruption of political power. (Available from Amazon in paperback and ebook by Kindle). 4 Stars – Fascinating story – Graphic in places.
So it starts off in a big shipping warehouse which was a mafia run operation the boss runs all his illegal goods though here drugs, guns, hot cars from a local chop shop. I was a booster and "part time delivery boy" when the regular guy was too drunk and high off his ass to do it. The money was good and being a recent college graduate I needed to feed my self and pay these student loans somehow. With the money I got a custom 07 lancer blue with gold rims, As I head back to the car with goods I get a bad feeling then all of a sudden gunshots I hid side of the lancer which was bullet proof thanks to some friends the chop shop. Cops?! I thought at first...then I peeked out to see it was a women she was shooting and killing everyone with such precision and skill two body shots and then a head shot. When I looked out again and the boss was in front of me trying to shoot her but nothing then his head exploded the blood got all over my face as I was wiping it off everything goes quite when I cleaned it off BAAM just like that her gun was in my face. You're not one of my targets... she said in a soft tone she was tall at least 5'8 pale skin Latina women with crazy long hair like down her back almost touching the ground with odd outfit a black vest with a white dress shirt and pants Roberta?? I said to her, find a better line of work she said and walked off. As I watched her walk away I could feel my body still frozen in place it took me a minute to pull my self together and get the hell outta there. I open the passenger side door jump in close the door slide over to the driver side start the engine and gun it. I start heading for the eastern exit of the warehouse doing sixty miles per hour I hit a small slope caught some air land drift right through the parking lot as I'm driving I see the front gate is still closed fuck it I tell myself and smash right on through. As I drive on to the main road I come to a four way intersection with a stoplight on red I slow done and stopped, Good thing too I needed to catch my breath as I sit there I wonder were did I see her before? I asked my self. Then it hits me like a ton of bricks she was the girl I spoke to at the auto zone parking lot I was there buying a oil filter for my other car a sixty-eight chevy. As I remember I was getting ready to leave I saw this same women siting on a triumph Bonneville next to where I parked as I walked by I said nice bike thanks she replied with a smile. Hey do you know where Cielo nightclub is? I just arrived here and I don't know my way around she said softly. Yeah that is a Colombian joint downtown off sixth street man what a pretty girl I think to myself my name is Will by the way I'm Rosarita but my friends call me Roberta its nice to meet you Will like wise I said. Well I gotta go said Roberta as she hopped back on her bike is there something else? she said I didn't realize I was staring. Yeah I was thinking if you and I could go out for drinks sometime ? I could show you around and stuff, thats sweet she said but I don't plan on staying in town long sorry. No its fine bye she said as she rode off what a girl...... A car horn blows I snap back to reality the light is green and two cars are behind me I start driving man that is crazy goes to show you never know who you might run into out there.
