CHRONICLES OF TIME
Indecipherable time. Once upon a time Kronos, the god of time, overslept and lost time. He got up slowly, sat up before he really woke up and asked "what is this time?" The sound of his heavenly voice echoed in the universe. Unfortunately there is no simple answer to such a complicated question. After all, Kronos slept long enough for time to become an issue. Still, the answers began to come. The planets and the stars answered: - It is Geological Time, time to transform simple ores into precious metals, to decrease or widen the distance between physical things, to expand or disappear. Nature said: - It is Natural Time, time to restore the primitive order of things. Societies said: - It is Historical Time, time to think about time, the events that mark human actions in the past, future and present. The individual said: - It is Chronological Time, time to control and measure time, and to lose no more time. Omniscient in the immensity of the universe, Chronos was dissatisfied because his question had not yet been answered. So many answers, thought Kronos, but none was the definitive answer to his question. He, who was still not thinking straight, because he was still sleepy and could not find himself in time, gave up the question, decided to give time to time and go back to sleep and dream, and, who knows, if he let time go by, when he woke up he might find out what time is all about, just in time to not lose time again.
