He is studying for a masters in sustainable development at the University of Ibadan and researching into impacts of climate change among smallholder farmers while contributing to the debate about food security, sustainable water usage and migration. He has also led a team on a girl-child empowerment project. Remi currently serves as a graduate research intern with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Abuja.
"Living in Nigeria has espoused me not only to a vibrant diversity of peoples but of situations peculiar to the developing world, one of which is food insecurity. I have attempted to contribute to the debate of the impact of climate change in this by examining the rural-urban movement of young people due to the apathy for agriculture. This has led me to recognize that due to poor yield and access to market, young ones find agricultural endeavours objectionable in the rural areas and as a mitigation strategy, they migrate towards the urban centers in search of white-collar jobs. It has been found that unfavourable climatic conditions contribute to this poor performance of agricultural ventures and I have found that if the effects of these conditions are well attended to, the productivity of rural farmers will be boosted."
